Questions regarding category, criteria, audits and deadlines that are not answered within this or other sections of the Website should be addressed to The Foundation. Organizations that have fully audited financial statements but an annual budget under $150,000, however, should contact The Foundation before making formal application.
Completed grant applications in all categories, except Theatre (Dance, Arts Related Organizations, Education, Human Services) must be received by 6 pm on October 15; Theatre applications must be received by 6 pm on December 3. Applications cannot be submitted via e-mail.
In order to be eligible for a grant, applicants must submit complete audited financial statements for the appropriate fiscal year. Financial statements must be prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and be audited by a certified public accountant. (See Instructions and Guidelines).
Please note the following important application information:
- Applications are automatically sent only to grant recipients of the preceding year.
- Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
- Unaudited financial statements, balance sheets, reviews or draft versions are not acceptable.
- Audited financial statements should be sent with the application whenever possible, but will be accepted as late as 6pm on day of appropriate deadline.
- Applicants should write organization's popular name or dba on front cover of audit, if different from legal name
- Completed application form with cover letter (stapled)
- Photocopy of application form and cover letter (stapled)
- Treasury Department letter granting federal tax exemption under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service Code. Please note: No application will be considered without a current, signed and legible tax-exemption letter.
- One original and one photocopy of fully audited financial statements for FY07 (if fiscal year ends January to August) and FY06 (if fiscal year ends September to December)
- Current touring schedule (if applicable)
- One set of reviews covering each production of the last two seasons (stapled; do not attach to application). Do not send more than three reviews per production. Reviews must not be edited for length or content.
- One playbill from the current or most recent season
- Current/most recent season brochure
- Form 5 from The Shubert Foundation Grant Application (2 copies; do not attach to application)
- One playbill from the current or most recent season
- Current/most recent season brochure
- Form 5 from the current application (2 copies; do not attach to application)
